Face-to-face meeting for the parents and student to get to know the consultant and the consultant services.  This session is free for families of high school Juniors and Seniors, as well as for members of the Somerset County Business Partnership. 

For students in the Freshman or Sophomore year of high school:

• Advice on course selection, extracurricular involvement and testing

For students in the Junior and Senior years of high school: 

• Review student’s high school transcript & standardized test results
• Review student's extracurricular activities
• Advise student on course selection, extracurricular involvement and testing
• Explain the college admissions process
• Translate student's goals & perspectives into college characteristics
• Interview student and parents regarding college preferences
• Conduct a Learning Style/Personality Type survey 
• Explore Educational Major/Careers
• Provide a financial aid overview
• Develop a list of good match colleges
• Advise student on making college visits
• Provide assistance in narrowing down the list of good match colleges
• Review rolling, regular, early decision, and early action admission

For students in the Junior and Senior years of high school:  

• Manage college application deadlines
• Explain the college admissions process
• Review rolling, regular, early decision, and early action admission
• Advise student on making college visits
• Prepare for the college interview
• Conduct a mock interview with feedback
• Provide assistance in the preparation of an activity list
• Provide assistance in the selection of recommendation letter writers
• Provide tips on writing the college essay
• Brainstorm topics for the college essay
• Provide up to 12 hours to review applications and/or comment on essays
• Provide a financial aid overview
• Review of college acceptances, including financial comparison 

For students in the Junior and Senior years of high school:  

Includes all the services included in the "College Planning Package focusing on College Selection" and the "College Planning Package focusing on Applying to College".
